Privacy Policy
How HazardNow handles site requests, privacy-safe product analytics, browser-local data, and information you choose to submit or share.
Effective date: August 22, 2026
Information handled when you use the site
HazardNow and its hosting or network providers receive the technical information needed to deliver a web request, such as the requested URL, IP address, browser or device information, referrer, and request timing. AWS Amplify and related AWS services host parts of HazardNow and may process this operational data under their own terms and privacy practices.
When you intentionally submit a location, filter, or tool input, HazardNow may send the minimum needed input to its servers or an identified public-data provider to return the requested result. Do not enter sensitive personal information unless a feature clearly says it is designed to keep that information in your browser.
Google measurement
On the production HazardNow domains, the site can load Google Analytics and a Google Ads measurement tag. Google may receive page views, allowed interaction events, and standard browser or network information, and may use cookies or similar browser storage according to your browser settings and Google's policies. HazardNow configures these tags with Google signals and ad-personalization signals disabled; this is measurement configuration, not a promise that Google receives no technical data.
HazardNow's custom events use an allowlist of short, low-cardinality fields such as tool ID, action type, result scope, and file format. They do not send free-text county entries, addresses, medical details, contacts, inventories, routes, or shared-result text as custom analytics parameters. Analytics tags are not loaded on local development or preview hosts, for obvious automated browser sessions, or when the browser exposes an enabled Global Privacy Control or supported Do Not Track signal.
For page measurement, HazardNow supplies only the site origin and path for the current page and referrer; URL query strings and fragments are removed before Google configuration runs.
Browser-local storage
Some HazardNow features use local browser storage for preferences, selected dashboard location, cached public data, or tool records and drafts. Browser-local data remains on that browser unless a feature expressly sends an input to produce a result or you choose to copy, download, print, or otherwise share it. Clearing HazardNow site data in your browser removes that local copy.
My Hazard Passport processes and stores its household profile in this browser. Its private JSON and print exports can contain location labels, household context, contacts, medical-continuity notes, and routes. Anyone with access to the same browser profile or an exported file may be able to read those details, so clear the local passport after using a shared device and protect any export you keep.
Incident Mode likewise processes and stores its incident label, timestamps, equipment estimates, reminder text, family check-ins, checklist state, and notes in this browser. Its offline cache stores the application shell and static site files—not the private incident document. Full JSON, text-note, and print exports can contain sensitive operational or household details; protect them like any other emergency-plan record.
Exercise Mode processes and stores its scenario configuration, organization or location labels, facilitator log, observations, hotwash notes, action owners, and due dates in this browser. It does not promise offline availability in this release. Participant, facilitator, after-action, and JSON exports may contain sensitive operational details; review and protect every export before distributing it.
Sharing and public URLs
Public historical-disaster links are limited to non-sensitive canonical place state, such as a validated county FIPS identifier, state, and display mode. HazardNow does not intentionally place addresses, medical information, contact details, inventories, or routes in those share URLs. Text, CSV, print, and other exports are created only when you choose the corresponding action; review any artifact before sharing it.
Your choices and third parties
- Enable Global Privacy Control or a supported Do Not Track setting to prevent HazardNow's Google tags from loading.
- Use browser cookie, tracking-protection, content-blocking, or site-data controls for additional control.
- Do not use a share or export action for information you do not want another person to receive.
External data sources, map or media providers, Google, and AWS may process requests under their own privacy and retention practices. See the Google Privacy Policy and AWS Privacy Notice for those providers.
